Click on this link (I couldn't figure out how to embed it), this is quite possibly the worst miss in professional soccer history.

U.S. national team forward spots remain up for grabs - Jen Chang - SI.com

I bet we discuss this issue a few times in the next month and a half.

Another Contender...

Sorry Julie, but to be fair I had started a theme of great goals of the season before this one came up.

Next year, guys, next year

Two major soccer sites among the Webby Honorees:

www.uefa.com

So, Pete, we were talking in Denver about how much fun we all had with the pool for the 2006 World Cup and designated you to organize this year's bracket/contest/pool. We might need to brainstorm about how to integrate the blog as best as possible. My suggestion- you take the lead on initial team-a organizing and then we can figure out how to apply the contest to the blog.

P.S. Big game tomorrow- 3pm on ESPN2.

I couldn't resist posting this...

It reminded me of the half time break when the Man United mascot walked behind the on field commentator during his report. Classic.

Pro-target man or anti-target man?

That is the question.

At the Rapids game on Saturday, 4 members of Hunter FC discussed this issue and while I'd like to say I remember everyone's opinions, I don't. Also, we didn't get to hear from Peter on this either.

Where I come down: strongly anti-target man. I don't believe the style of play that results from the target man strategy is the way soccer should be played. Feeding long balls into a forward in hopes that he/she can create something is not pretty nor fun to watch in my opinion.

P.S. It was beanie day at the Rapids game, hence the matching beanies.

Well then... not as important, but quite gorgeous

Another gorgeous goal - sorry Julie, but Messi is simply the best in the World - no shame losing to a guy like him and team like Barca

A thing of beauty

Gomez scores again, nets equalizer in Puebla's 1-1 tie vs. Morelia

This guys refuses to stop scoring - I think he definitely has earned a look at the National Camp in May - we are running awfully thin on quality forwards.

Happy Easter!

Gomez scores again, nets equalizer in Puebla's 1-1 tie vs. Morelia: "

Herculez Gomez 1 (Reuters)

Herculez Gomez just can't stop scoring.

The American striker scored his eight goal in 13 matches on Sunday, netting a second-half equalizer just six minutes after coming in as a substitute in Puebla's 1-1 draw vs. Morelia. The goal marked Gomez's eighth goal in his past ten matches.

Here is the goal (30 seconds into the clip):

What do you think of the finish? Starting to believe Gomez is destined to play his way onto the U.S. World Cup team? Think he at least deserves a look in May's training camp? Still not sold?
