2010 World Cup Prediction Game

Here are the rules for the 2010 World Cup Prediction Game. In the comment section, everyone should post who they feel will finish in the Top 2 positions for each group. If you correctly name a team in the right spot, you get 3 points. If you correctly guess a team that advances, but in the wrong spot, you get 1 point. The person with the most points wins accolades. Does that sound good?

Here is how the groups break down (in ABC order):

Group A: France, Mexico, South Africa, Uruguay
Group B: Argentina, Greece, Nigeria, South Korea
Group C: Algeria, England, Slovenia, United States
Group D: Australia, Germany, Ghana, Serbia
Group E: Cameroon, Denmark, Japan, Netherlands
Group F: Italy, New Zealand, Paraguay, Slovakia
Group G: Brazil, Ivory Coast, North Korea, Portugal
Group H: Chile, Honduras, Spain, Switzerland

Good luck!

  2. I also think we should pick the overall winner and possibly the second place finisher for a couple of bonus points.

    Thoughts?

  3. Rest assured, Bernardo, we are going to do another contest once the brackets have been set. Or do you mean bonus points for picking the winner and 2nd place out of each group- which I believe we are doing.

  4. I mean picking the world cup champ and second place finisher from the get-go.

  5. I was going to do my predictions today, but we can't go a day without a new player going down to injury. As such, I will wait. However, I wanted to post something so that people don't forget about this link!

  10. A= (1) Mexico (2) France -as much as I hate it, I think El Tri wins this group
    B= (1) Nigeria (2) Argentina -great players (Maradona) rarely make great coaches
    C= (1) England (2) USA -I'm going safe here b/c I have some many other upsets
    D= (1)Germany (2) Australia -Socceroos!!
    E= (1) Dutch (2) Cameroon -I was going to pick Denmark, but then I realized that's just a combination of my father's name and my brother's name and not a real country
    F= (1) Paraguay (2) Italy -Paraguay won more games in qualifying then Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay. Italy won zero games in qualifying.
    G= (1) Brazil (2) Portugal- so if you speak portugese, you advance in this group
    H= (1) Spain (2) Chile -so if speak spanish and you're not Honduran, you advance in this group. Honduras used up its luck just to make it to SA

    Final= Brazil beats Spain
